DICKIES

Established in Fort Worth, Texas – a city and state known for its grit – the story begins in 1918, when founding partners C.N. Williamson and E.E. “Colonel” Dickie along with other investors began the United States Overall Co. of Texas. By 1922, the two cousins bought out their partners and joined by C.D. Williamson, established Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co.

From day one Dickies has been a manufacturer. They made for the makers then and they make for them now; Creating goods as hard-working and as honest as the people who wear them. The mechanics, the skaters, the carpenters, the artists, the farmers. The diverse global community of makers. Those who summon an inner belief and know-how. Who take pride and feel joy in realizing their ideas. Their community doesn’t just make for the hell of it. They yearn to shape a path. Their own path.

It wasn’t until 1954 that Dickies adopted the iconic “Ox Collar” logo. An ox collar isn’t likely to mean a great deal for those of you with limited livestock experience, however, if we dive deeper it all becomes clear. An ox collar is part of a harness used for pulling a plough or wagon. For Dickies the ox collar is symbolic of the strength, power and determination of Texas livestock, values that are still embodied by the Dickies brand to this day.
